Updated 4/10/2020
As previously communicated, Little League International postponed the start of our Spring 2020 season until no earlier than May 11 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We have met with our District Administrator and other league presidents about various scenarios to play a regular season; however, we are also planning for the possibility that the Spring season will be canceled. Decisions about starting baseball and softball activities will be guided by federal, state, and local authorities.
If our Spring 2020 season is not further delayed beyond May 11, we can play a condensed season and finish close to our original schedule, likely extending closer to June 20. But If the delay continues beyond May 11, the Spring season will likely be canceled.
We remain committed to providing recreational baseball and softball programs to our community, in a safe and healthy environment. If the Spring 2020 season is canceled, we hope to offer some sort of baseball and softball programs soon after this crisis is behind us. Information about potential programs would be shared at a later time, and offered at no-cost if you do not receive a refund (see information below).
Exton Little League is offering refunds (80% of registration fee due to uniform and field expenses already paid) of Spring 2020 season registration fees, right away, to any member who makes a request (whether the Spring 2020 season is canceled or not). In the event the season is canceled, we would ask that you consider having your registration fee be a tax-deductible donation to the league in order to help us be able to maintain our financial viability going forward.
The process is as follows. Please
with the following information:
- Name to which check should be payable.
- Address.
- Child's name and age.
- Program registered for (baseball or softball).
All requests for refunds must be received by May 15. Please allow 10 business days from confirmation of request. We will compile requests on Tuesdays and Fridays, beginning Tuesday, April 14.
While we realize that many of our ELL families are dealing with financial uncertainty, and/or also providing financial support to community members experiencing urgent needs, we ask that you consider donating all or a portion of your Spring 2020 registration fees to help support our ongoing ability to fulfill our mission for your kids. In preparation for season start-up we have currently paid out about 20% of your fee for uniforms and maintenance. The league's fiscal position is such that we will move forward; however, the loss of registration fee revenue is potentially significant. As local businesses shutter we are also realizing a significant loss of sponsorships. Those two line items make up the vast majority of our annual revenue. The league acts prudently and responsibly with regards to operating costs and capital investments—you can trust that your donation will be allocated in the best interests of the league.
Thank you for your consideration, your patience and support. And, most importantly, we hope that your families are coping safely at home.
Exton Little League
Dave Stevenson, President
